Brought up in London, he trained as a classical ballet dancer, working extensively in Britain and abroad dancing in some of the most illustrious theatres including The Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Sadlers Wells, The London Coliseum and Theatre de Chatelet Paris.After his career as a dancer drew to a close, he decided to develop his passion for antiques through the study of antique furniture and antique restoration .Working on period antique furniture he developed his knowledge of antiques both from a practical standpoint and an aesthetic understanding.In 1994 he moved to Somerset and bought a Victorian Methodist Chapel. After a period of restoration, this became home to himself, his partner Jane and their young son Laurie.The schoolrooms have become an ideal venue to display his antiques and decorative items.His pieces reflect his strong interest in design,colour and texture ranging from the 18th to the 21st century Raj also works closely with many clients sourcing pieces and helping them furnish their homes with pieces that are sympathetic to there needs and to the property he is also involved in designing and making bespoke pieces and is very fortunate to have skilled upholsterers,cabinetmakers and metal workers at his disposal. He not only sells nationally but internationally including America, Holland and Italy.He also offers an inhouse antique restoration service with the emphasis on conservation and is happy to offer advice and valuations.
